Peace and Reconciliation (3 elective credits, fall only)

 

This elective seminar explores the most important conflicts currently faced by humanity and the various, non-violent ways which they have been or could be approached and transformed. Topics covered include: individual/internal approaches and personal peace; creative conflict resolution; and regional and international peace and reconciliation work done in Costa Rica and Latin America.Specific areas of conflict analyzed include ethnic and racial issues, political and military violence, natural resource depletion, and domestic violence. Students have the opportunity to explore in greater depth one of the peace and reconciliation topics covered in the seminar (individual/personal peace, creative conflict resolution, and regional peacemaking) and applying the approach to one of the specific areas listed above.

- (13 required and 3 elective credits for Freshmen).
